Mark Day Takes Home Checkered Flag in a Wild Night of Action at

Nashville, Tennessee, August 2, 2008 – Another exciting night of racing under the lights at the Music City Motorplex saw some of the top drivers bring home victories and extend their

Points lead in Music City Motorplex’s 50th Anniversary season. Race fans were out in full force on a beautiful night to cheer their favorite NASCAR Whelen All American Series drivers to victory.

 

Michael House led the field down from the pole position in the Late Model Division and held the lead until a tangle on a restart sent him crashing into the front straight-away wall. House was not able to continue and points leader Andy Johnson quickly took over the top spot and held the lead until Mark Day was able to run down Johnson and the two waged a fierce battle side by side for the final 3 laps until Day was able to just nip Johnson at the end. Johnson was able to extend his point lead as Dillion Oliver started in the back of the event and made his way up to third at the end of the event, and was able to hold onto20his second place position in the points.

 

Daniel Victory and was able to extend his points lead by winning the Super Truck main event followed by Clint Crowell and Blake Carter rounded out the top three.

 

The NASCAR Grand Nationals had a great show as Clint Carter started at the end of the field and worked his way to the top spot. His victory celebration was short lived when post race inspection revealed that his car had the “Wrong” tires for the division. Jeffrey Belt who finished second was awarded the victory. Lee Goddard extended his point lead with a sold second place finish and Wayne White had mechanical troubles and dropped out before the conclusion of the event.

 

Fans were treated to another thrilling ThunderStox race as Joshua Hood stayed near the front of the pack all race long and was able to just nip Matt Barnes at the end.

 

The Legends Pro, Masters, and Semi Pro division all ran together in a 30 lap shoot out with Kevin Rollins, Kenny Summers taking the top honors.

 

Layne Clifton won the Bandolero Bandits event, while Sean Hosey won the Bandolero Young guns 15 lap feature event.

 

Ricky McIllwain of Antioch was able to capture the Dwarf Car main with 14 car competeing in the 15 lap feature.

 

Racing returns to the Music City Motorplex Friday, August 8 with Sterling Marlin returning to action in the NASCAR Late Model division. The Super Trucks and Grand Nationals will also be in action as the event will feature Double Point, Dollar Night with the price of admission being only $1.

 

Grandstand gates open at 6:30 p.m. and qualifying at 7:00 p.m. The green flag will drop on the first race at 8:30 p.m.
